Apparently my last journal entry was in 2014. That was a fair amount of time ago and a lot has happened since then. I'll spare you all the details as this is my art space, not a social media bonanza (Well, not that kind, at least).
Since my last journal entry my art has died and then had a rebirth. I've learned a lot of new techniques and tricks that I have been and still am applying as I go along creating, unearthing, revisiting, reformatting and finishing up artworks of all shapes and sizes (but mainly of the A4 variety). When I say that my art 'died', I'm referring more to a lack thereof. After my 'Lisette' painting of around August 2014, I didn't do much in the way of artwork for almost half a year and didn't post anything for almost a year. I regained a little of my momentum come early 2015 and it has been slowly getting faster and better as time goes by. My goal this year is to post at least 12 artworks to my featured gallery (one for each month). An easy feat for a lot of you who post multiple artworks every five minutes, but for someone like me who has lost his mojo baby, I'd be pretty happy with achieving this goal. I think it's doable. I knocked out my two latest drawings ('The Gravity Queen' and 'Shade') within 3 days, which is something I haven't done since I was in art school in the mid 2000's. So that in itself is a hurdle I have jumped and I feel pretty good about that.
Not to mention, despite only having posted 4 new drawings (5 if you count my game screen for 'Only the Lonely'), I have been doing other little artworks and designs here and there. Quite consistently actually. Around March to April I worked on the art for a choose your own adventure mobile game titled 'Only the Lonely' with a couple of friends which should be coming out later in the year if all goes to plan (I'll post about it when it does). I've also been working on, not one, but both of my graphic novels. From around late last year to the present I have been working on a scene from my 'Funk Hunters' comic. It's mostly a test scene to see how I'm going to illustrate and colour it and to see if it flows well. So far the scene is looking pretty cool. At present I'm working on colouring one of the pages to get an idea on what it could potentially look like. If it turns out I'll probably post it. If not, I'll still post it but it will be in my scraps. In terms of my other comic, 'The Exterminators', I've been redesigning (for the millionth time) my set of main characters. I'm feeling it's getting to that point where it feels real enough that I could do some test storyboards. Watch this space.
So that's it so far. There are a few other little things here and there too but I won't overflow this journal entry more than it already has been. The future looks bright for my artwork if I carry on the way I am. Looking forward to posting some new stuff for all y'all.
