Hey all. Long time no journal update no?
It's been trying times over the past few months so I haven't really been as active with my art as I'd hope. But that still doesn't mean I haven't been actually doing any art. I've been working on a new painting since the end of last year. One of those on and off things. I'm really liking it but am stuck for where to go next. I'll leave it till I move so as I'm not preoccupied. Other artistic ventures include starting one of my graphic novels. This is a slightly different one from the other one I was doing (which I decided to push aside temporarily in favour of this one.) This new one involves bounty hunters and is set in the 70's. Despite being about bounty hunters, it's a very intimate story of character development set to the background of the bounty hunter life. I'm very big on character driven stories as opposed to the characters just following a story. Seems to create a much more personal and intimate type of story telling. Once I have some character designs I like, I'll post a couple to my gallery. So yeah, that's where my art is going at the moment. Nothing too big yet but hopefully next month I can at least finish the painting.
Other recent news (not that you reeeally want to hear but you're going to hear it anyhow

) I went to, not one, but two concerts this month. Both were frkking AMAZING. First up I had Incubus in Wellington on the 1st of Feb. Was such an amazing show. I'd seen them back in 2008 and it was epic then, so I knew I was in for a treat. Luckily this time I managed to get quite close. Four from the front right in the middle. After about five songs I hung back about eight rows in the middle as I was getting pretty dehydrated, haha. Such a light weight xD. But it was still amazing, maybe even more so. Brilliant setlist. Can't wait for the guys to come round these parts again.
The second concert I went to was just three nights ago (well, it was when I wrote this xD). Roger Waters performing 'The Wall' in it's entirety. Holy. SHIT. What an amazing piece of performance. Start to finish it was such a unique experience!! There were giant puppets, projections, dancers, actors..... and they built a wall in front of the band as the setlist progressed. Only to be destroyed at the end after 'The Trial'. Brilliant!! Was a once in a lifetime performance that will stick with me for years =').
Totally want to go to some more gigs now. I must say my gig list is looking pretty healthy now, haha.
So that's just a taste of what I've been up to the past month or so. Hopefully, like I said, my art will pick up a bit now. Especially now that my band has decided to call it quits for a little while. Not forever, just for a little while so as we can regain some creative juice in that area. Fingers crossed it'll do some good, the flame was beginning to go out =/.
Over and out...
