In case you were wondering, it's a quote from Resident Evil 3, not a self loathing title or anything. I'm a happy chappy! (Most of the time).

Just thought I'd update for anyone who follows me that I am still around and still doing art. I haven't really posted anything new illustration-wise since February last year due to working on my graphic novel. Hope to have something to show from that in the coming months as I'm around 40 pages deep with many more to go. Super proud of it. It's a serious labor o' love.

However I will still post some new "normal" stuff soon as I'm thinking of taking a little break from the ol' GN and illustrating some more witches or something similar. Depends on my mood and more importantly my time frame. I'm also looking for new work (day job type stuff) so that's taking up time too (and more so once I actually find that new job).

Anyway, just touching base with y'all. Peace out and happy new year!

It's a new year and I have a bunch of new ideas that I'll be working on throughout that I'm excited to begin/finish/continue and, of course, share.

I've also begun illustrating my graphic novel which will take up a large chunk of my drawing time. This means that posting new art outside of this will probably slow down a bit as my GN is a pretty time consuming undertaking (a labour of love is probably a better term for it!).

In saying that, I'll be taking a small break for the rest of January. I don't intend to stop posting online, but I thought it would be best while I'm trying to get the ball rolling on my book. I'll be trying to at least post a new artwork every month after January (more if I can but I'd rather prevent burnout, so one will be the goal and if there's more, well that's a bonus). Also, I will possibly post up some preview pages, maybe some sketches and WIPs of the book as I go.

This is such a big deal for me as the main idea for the story and main characters were conceived way way back in the mid 2000s, tweaked and changed over the years and was finally completely written (9 volumes) from 2018 through to 2020. The last 3 years it's sort of sat there being edited from time to time and character designs being drawn. But all that said, I decided that 2023 was the year to actually start the drawing process. At this stage, I've almost completed the first page (I only started it a couple of days ago so I feel I'm tracking well and it will only get faster).

Anyway, just thought I'd put that out there. I realise not many people read journals but writing it was kind of for my own sake anyhow ;P

Love ya and see y'all soon with more creations!

That is, on whether or not I'll continue posting art in light of the AI stuff happening of late.

I've thought it all over the past three or so weeks and I've decided that I WILL continue posting. Sharing my artwork brings me happiness and I don't want to stop. However, I won't be posting full res versions of my artwork (not that I ever did, but hey). Whether this stops AI bots or not, I don't know and don't care. It makes me feel better about it.

Anyway, just thought I'd put that out there considering my up-in-the-air last journal entry. Now, back to work. Got some catching up to do...

Because of all the BS with this AI "art"/theft that's been going on, I'll only be posting new art to my Instagram for a while. I know it's not safe either, but this thing's got me spooked.

I'll still be on here most days checking messages/browsing art/thanking favs+watches/forums/updates, but if you want to see any new art etc, my insta is probably the best place for now.

Peace. Let's get through this. (Real) Art will win <3

As the title says. Commissions in the near future? Whaddayathink?

At this point I'm just putting my feelers out there to see if there's any interest from people for commission work in my art style. I know I'm not a very popular artist on here (having been out of the game for 6+ years with anxiety and depression problems will do that), but I'm keen to try something new and give it a shot. I figure my art is unique enough and has gotten loads better since returning to the scene in 2020 so why not tackle some harder subjects? Besides, I can use the extra money!

Let me know if you'd be interested when I actually go live with this. I'm still working on the details as it's new territory for me and there's a lot to consider, so watch this space.

Likewise anyone who's dabbled in or is a frequent commissioner has any tips to give, I'd be most grateful to hear them.

Peace.

Considering starting up commissions...... by AuntyRichie, journal
